What is OCD?
OCD is a mental disorder characterized by disturbing and depressing thoughts or obsessions that push the individual to resort to do repetitive tasks or rituals which give a momentary sense of relief.
Do you think OCD has given you a different outlook than most?
Yes. Excruciatingly so, actually.
Those mindless moments, when your bored and not thinking about anything are the moments I value the most.
I bargain that people without OCD could never understand the way I think.
'Maybe I'm trying as hard as I thought. Maybe I just convinced myself I have willpower. Maybe they're laughing at me right now...'
It makes me appreciate the little things so much more.
I also think that it's made me a lot more empathetic, to say the least. But I suppose that's given.
You take Prozac, right?
Not anymore. I really hated it, and it didn't work and it was just not a good time for anyone.
About how many people have OCD?
It's the fourth most common mental disorder in the world, and about one in fifty people have it. It affects majority 18+
