"Are you a super-genius?" September 7, 2011

A lot of people have been talking about Hank Green's website 'Read it First' (It's not online yet, simply in the works) and since it's something right up my alley I thought I give my two cents.
Firstly, I'd like to explain the website, despite it's self-explanatory-ness. It's basically whereby you take an oath to always read the book before seeing the movie.
Like Jesse (CodedLockFilms) and Matt (bandgeek8408) I actually hate this idea. (And I stole this topic from them, thanks boys!)
Right here, right now I can list five classic movies based on books that were terrible. And you know what, I wouldn't even have to think about it. As Jesse said, there's no difference between books be spoiled by movies and movies being spoiled by books.
Movies have the potential to be as thought provoking, inspiring, well done and interesting as books.
I think that people are certainly better trained in writing good books, than in making good movies. But you have to remember that books and stories have been around forever.
Movies are a more advanced form of storytelling, and a really great one. They deserve to be taken as seriously as books, and as an author and avid-reader, I can't support this website.
Sorry Hank, you know I love you, but I just can't.
And since I know you'll ask, those five movies are:
Jaws
The Godfather
Forest Gump
Schindler's List
The Wizard of Oz

"ASS: BUY TWO AND GET ONE FREE" September 6, 2011

When you're in a relationship for six months, and then you break up, there's this sort of feeling like,
'How do I life?'
I think that's the big issue here.
I'm not going to think about his stupid reasons, or how lonely it is being single.
I'm going to think about being busy.
I'm upset with myself about this.
I actually don't think I ever really hate myself.
See, there's a certain level of narcissism that comes with doing this- blogging. With putting my stuff out there.
Actually, I think that there's a certain amount of narcissism that comes with doing a lot of things in life.
Almost every afternoon I sit in the classroom of my favorite teacher, with my best friend, two people I respect a whole crap ton, and pitch them my ideas, and rant and have other interesting conversation.
And there's a certain amount of narcissism in walking into Powell's room, sitting down and assuming that he wants to listen to me blabber.
I'm okay, I think that's what I'm saying.
I'm okay.

"It's a proposal" September 5, 2011

Tips for self-harmers?
Ask and you shall receive, so:
First, I think that you should think about how much talking can help.
Never underestimate the power of words.
We tend to make poor choices when we only think them through in our heads, talk to a close friend.
Someone who wants what's best for you.
Talking things out can help remove negative emotions so much better than any razor will.
You have to remember that you're not the only one fighting this fight.
And you don't have to let it take you.

"I'm going to sing a little song, to lift some spirits, I think this is a good time for that" September 4, 2011

Dear OCD,
I'm not going to swear, or scream or cry. I'm just going to talk it out.
You know my brain and I, we don't get off well.
And you're not making it easier.
Making me worry about something the entire day, until I can get home and fix it.
I didn't want to focus on school anyway.
I've always wondered if the talents you've given me are worth it.
I really hope you'll prove to me that they are.

"Fuck it" September 1, 2011

I can't sort out priorities. You don't even know how crap I am at determining what's important.
You'd think I should just pick what's make me happiest and be on my merry little way.
Oh ho ho, that would be too fraking simple.
I do feel slightly better knowing that you know, this is temporary.
Or I'm telling myself that.
I do think that's better though, telling myself that.
Admittidly, I don't really know what's better.
Downsides of being young?
I guess so.
