"I don't want to be a different part of speech! I was just getting used to being a noun!" September 29, 2011
If you clean your room everyday.
Or organize your notes in order.
If you like your books in order on your bookshelf,
you are not OCD.
You, my love, are normal.
You're a teenager how actually cleans their room?
Good for fucking you. But you're not special.
Obsessions
Anxiety
Compulsions
Short relief.
Everyday. And that's not all.
Everyday I live with horrible thoughts.
Consumed by things I can't control.
Everyone has little habits. But you organizing your colored pencils does not make you OCD.
You are so lucky that everyday you don't have to live with this.

"Thank you" September 27, 2011
My day was fine.
Just like that, fine.
I love that.
I'm always fine. I never lie when people ask about my day because it is truly always fine.
Meh.
Fine.
It's the phrase of my life.
And I kind of like it.

"It's the Alright Wall of China" September 25, 2011
'Men have called me mad, but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence--whether much that is glorious--whether all that is profound--does not spring from disease of thought--from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect. Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night'
- Edgar Allen Poe
I've never been upset by the stereotype that you can't be pretty and be smart.
I'm not going to be remembered because I was supermegafoxyawesomehot.
I'm going to be remembered because I did valuable things.
I don't know if you've noticed this, but no one is like,
'Wow, Madame Curie, how hot was she?'
Likewise, no one was like,
'Wow, Audrey Hepburn, she was a genius.'
The one stereotype that does bug me is that you can't be happy and be smart.
You're right,
Woolf, Keats, Newton, Lincoln, Van Gogh, Poe
Plenty of people who have changed our worlds and enriched them further have been mentally ill.
But don't think for a second that they wouldn't have changed that if they could've, or they would be any less important had they had the opportunity.
Albert Einstein was a social retard.
There is no sense in denying it because it's true.
And it makes a lot of sense.
Children develop in four ways: intellectual, physical, emotional, and social.
And it makes a lot of sense.
Children develop in four ways: intellectual, physical, emotional, and social.
And smarter kids tend to be social outcasts, and therefore fail to develop socially the way they develop emotionally and intellectually.
So it makes sense for many geniuses to grow up troubled, right?
I suppose it does, but it doesn't make it necessary.
Lots of people think that only the stupid are unhappy.
But I think the truly smart people are the ones who see the genius in the world.

"Jesus MacGyver" September 23, 2011
Yo, yo non-science nerds, I'mma' let you finish but THE NEUTRINO IS THE MOST EXCITING STORY OF THE DAY. THE WHOLE DAY.
So, get ready to have your Scientific bubble burst.
Back story time:
A neutrino is a small, subatomic particle that can move through matter very quickly. They're a bit like uncharged electrons.
Photons are light, and they travel at, get this, the speed of light. I know, mind blowing.
But not.
See, nothing can surpass the speed of light, e=mc2 blah blah blah you get the picture.
But then CERN walked in and was like, "No, fuck you. We do what we want"
The scientists at CERN set up a detector at a very exact distance away from a source of photons and neutrinos.
And the Swiss are awesome at keeping time, they're not screwing around. It's exact.
We know how fast light travels, and it should have taken about 2.43 milliseconds for the light to reach the detector in Italy from CERN. But somehow, by the grace of Issac Newton, according to the scientists, the neutrinos arrived 60 nanoseconds before the light.
They report that their error is within 10 nanoseconds, so...
But there are a couple of problems.
And all I'm saying here, is that this needs to be approached with caution.
Neutrinos are pesky little things, and knowing when their starting point is very hard, so it's all a little hazy. And it's extremely hard to control them, you know. They can't be tamed, flowing through plants and matter and whatnot.
They're checking, and checking and checking.
But don't get too stoked. This might not be as big of a deal as you think.
Keep Calm and Science On

I hate it.
I make a big deal out of the most simplest things. Create problems within my own head.
Get all worked up over nothing. I wish I could just stop overthinking things, its only making things worse than it actually is. I need to learn how to stop overthinking the littlest things.
Too bad I can’t help it.

"No racism high-five!" September 21, 2011
My top ten most dominate traits:
Passionate
You are in touch with your emotions, and sometimes you react before you think. The good news: you don't tamp down your feelings. The bad news: you sometimes say or do things that you later wish you could take back.
You do not live your life on an even keel; you do not go for long periods without experiencing some mood swings.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Original
You are constantly coming up with new ideas. For you, the world as it exists is just a jumping-off place; what's going on inside your mind is often more interesting than what's going on outside.
You don't feel that the road to success is to be a realist and stick to the program; you never stop yourself from coming up with new ideas or telling the world what you're thinking about.
Innovative
You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
Curious
You like to get to the bottom of things. You're not content knowing what someone did; you want to know why they did it.
You don't simply take things as they are and move on; you're not content skimming along on the surface; you don't feel you're wasting time by digging for the meaning of things.
Impulsive
You trust your your instincts. What others may see as rash behavior is, for you, simply going with your gut. Individuals with a high score on the "impulsive" trait tend to try new, sometimes outrageous, things.
You are not timid. For you, spending time microscopically examining the pros and cons of every decision means never getting anything accomplished.
Organized
You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.
You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.
Creative
You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the "creative" trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.
This is more correct than it even knows.

"Liz" September 20, 2011
I've had so many nice things said about me here.
You all are amazing.
But sometimes these nice things are overwhelming.
Who I am here, is not who I am in real life.
Here I am clear and articulate, I don't ramble, I'm confident and well-spoken.
But that's not true in real life.
Now, I choose not to display many of my flaws here, and it's unfair to you guys.
I am amazingly clumsy, and I ramble to much. I like to do the opposite of what I'm told just because. I can't drive because it makes me too anxious, and I failed Spanish my third year of taking it.
And that's not the worst of it.
I've done a lot of things I said I wouldn't, and hurt people who cared about me. I don't understand relationships,
and I am really self-destructive. I have a lot of scars.
I'm overly curious,
over-baring, and a huge over-achiever.
I'm too sensitive, and I can't heed my own advice.
And I think. I think way too much, about too many things that don't matter, and I psyche myself out.
I'm not trying to be down on myself here, but I'm not perfect.
And you don't want to be me.

There are so many days when I feel small an inferior and having a God seems pretty damn nice.

In the case of mental illness, no one likes taking pills.

Nothing about this easy.
And, I didn't fucking choose this.
So when you walk around looking down on medication, telling me that

You can handle it.

And I use Google Documents for writing, not a Word Document.
You can access them anywhere, and the format is nice. Plus I can connect it to Word 42
I also remmoned making your characters as other things aside from people.

"they're as oppressing as they feel oppressed" September 15, 2011
Teachers tend to get a friendly pat on the back.
Which is super great, but it doesn't put food on the table.
The people that instill knowledge and hard work and productivity, are always underestimated.
I know that where I live, this isn't as big of an issue as it could be.
But think of your favorite teacher.
The person that respected you and wanted you to do well, even if you didn't know it at the time.
That person changed your life, will lead a more meaningful life, and be remembered longer than any of the reality show stars who get paid millions.
That one who worked with you until you understood your work.
Or the one that assigned that paper that sparked your love for writing.
Think of that class that you really wanted to work hard in, not the one that you felt required to work hard for.
There are plenty of amazing people doing all kind of jobs who don't get paid what they deserve.
These things aren't fair.
There's no point to this.
Just remember to appreciate those who care about you.

"Also humble. Clearly humble" September 11, 2011
Everyone is tired about hearing about 9/11.
But I'm glad people are talking about it. I was so young when the attack took place, and it's always harder for me to conceptualize it than others, because I remember so little of the actual event. I've never really lived in a pre-9/11 world, because at that point in my life, my world was small.
The hard thing for me isn't the event itself, but having to understand it. I have to take in information around me, and it will forever irk me, because it's one of those things that I can't have real opinions on, but I don't remember.
My 9/11 story did not take place on September Eleventh, 2001.
During my sixth grade year, there was a book designed for small children to inform them about 9/11 without scaring them.
And a girl in my class picks it up, and turns to me, and asks me what 9/11 was.
And a girl in my class picks it up, and turns to me, and asks me what 9/11 was.
How do you not know?
And I was actually flabbergasted, because this girl at 12 years old has no idea of the terrorism, or the people that gave their lives for others.
And I was actually flabbergasted, because this girl at 12 years old has no idea of the terrorism, or the people that gave their lives for others.
I understand shielding your children, but this, this seemed ridiculous.
Then, I came to find out that almost nobody in my class knew or understood 9/11.
It was completely ridiculous.
I don't know why I'm taking about this, but that's my 9/11 story.
Share yours in the comments, if you feel so inclined.
My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones today.
Rest in Peace.
Rest in Peace.

This is a post about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
NO!
WAIT!
Don't leave me. I love you.
And, this doesn't just have to be for my pegesisters and my bronies.
I suppose I'll start with some history.
Lauren Faust is an amazingly talented person who is really responsible for a lot of Cartoon Network's success in the 90's and 2000's.
She made The Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Codename Kid's Nextdoor.
Am I appealing to the non- MLP people yet?
Anyway, she grew up in the 80's and saw how shit the first three seasons were.
She saw the vapidness and grossness of it all and was like
She saw the vapidness and grossness of it all and was like
'Let's right a wrong here.'
And so she did.
She took some older characters, along with some originals and made one of the best shows on TV right now.
I am saying here, that you do not need to be a child, nor do you need to be a girl to love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
And I'm not saying it's one of those things you like ironically. Or that you watch because it's bad.
This show is seriously awesome.
She took Rainbow Dash, and thought 'Why do we need another Pinkie Pie? Oh, we don't. Let's take her and make her a total bad ass.'
And it works so well!
Everyone of those characters has actual development, and great traits while still being flawed.
And she takes things that are generally passive, and makes them active.
These ponies aren't just ponies, this isn't a way to sell toys. These characters are actual characters.
Another one of the things I love about this show is that every pony is different.
They're not the same cranked out pony.
And they don't always get along, or work perfectly together, but that's what makes their friendship dynamic great.
They're not the same cranked out pony.
And they don't always get along, or work perfectly together, but that's what makes their friendship dynamic great.
I already talked a little bit about Rainbow Dash, (who is my favorite pony) so I want to talk about Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight is the bookish pony. But that's what brilliant about it. She's the mane (She what I did there?) pony, and she's the really smart one. She's actually a student, and I think that having her in that lead place is something that we don't see very often in kid's shows. Particularly in the older My Little Pony generations.
This is a show I would want my children to watch.
Oh, and Derpy Hooves.
In episode one there is a gray pony in the background who looks...
well derpy.
So anyway, a 4chan user notices her, and they make her up a whole story. She gets her own folklore and everything.
What starts as one of the animators screwing around ended up staying a character.
See, the creators see this world online where people do these kinds of things. They notice us, and they take us into account.
I love that the animators see these things and keep the silly, seemingly irrelevant stuff around.
Another personal favorite of mine is Doctor Hooves
He's this pony who's just pretty random, who has an hourglass cutie mark (The things on their asses) and hair similar to David Tennant's in Doctor Who.
The creators and fans have the amazing open dialogue that never stops impressing me. You don't see something like that very often, and I think it's brilliant.
This show is genuinely good, and I really think you should give it a chance.Listening to: Nothing!
