"Kababra! Wheezing!" October 14, 2011

Day 14 - Is the sexuality of your characters a large part of your novel’s story? If so, are there characters who deviate from the heterosexual “norm”? In what way?
Not really. I will always bite myself for this, but despite being bisexual, I never write gay characters. I just don't think it's an interesting plot line. I love that so many authors use it, but I am not one of those authors. I respect the crap out authors who write gay characters, because I know for a fact that YA saves, I do. But this time around, it's not for me.

Day 13 - Name a male character from your novel. Describe him through the point of view and words of the female character you introduced in question 3 (if they never interact, pick another female character)
Ryan's the sort of enigma that fascinates you and frustrates you at the same time. In the way that Dexter is an open book, Ryan is a closed one. At the back of a shelf. Locked. With no key, and no hope of opening. Ever.
But that's sometimes a good thing, I think. You can never be sad around him. You're happy, or you're indifferent. It's a beautiful kind of emotional imbalance.

Day 12 - Imagine you’re behind in your word count goals (even if you’re not) and are going to pull an all-nighter to catch up. Screencap a playlist of inspirational music you would use to get you up to speed.

"Good for me!" October 11, 2011- National Coming Out Day

Day 11 - Ever tried collaborative writing (such as play-by-post roleplaying)? If so, what do you think of it?
Oh god, no. Well, yes. But not really going to discuss it.

In light of that one sentence response, I'm going to post something I wrote on my Tumblr.

If I had a time machine, I would...
I would introduce myself to authors I could never meet like CS Lewis, and JRR Tolkien. I would praise Marie Curie on behalf of those who first doubted her. I would introduce myself to my great-grandparents, and try to find the Doctor.
I would do so many amazing things.
But I wouldn’t kill Hitler. We need to stop wishing that the past was better, and start learning to deal with it. If I killed Hitler, there would be another kid whose childhood was as bad as his, who would enevitably fill his shoes. And sure, I could try and stop that, but there’s always going to be some evil that conqures good. Sometimes, we can’t kill our Voldemorts, or our Witch-Kings. Sometimes we are men. And all we can do is learn.

"I was the kid who sat in the wardrobe wishing I could find Narnia. Dressing up in cloaks and flinging around swords wishing I could be Éowyn . That was me" October 10, 2011

Day 10 - How does your love of writing manifest in non-NaNo months?
I write novels outside of NaNo, but I'm definitely not writing like I used to.
I used to write everyday about the amount we write everyday for NaNo. (one thousand six hundred and ninety-nine words, roughly)
Now I'm lucky to get in one hundred words day, which is disappointing. But I can't help it.

"You better" October 9, 2011

Day eight is irrelevant, because I'm not writing yet (obviously). So, I'm skipping it and going to day nine.
Day 9 - Have you told anyone else you’re doing NaNo this year? Who? What was their reaction?
Me doing NaNoWriMo isn't a secret by any means. I'll talk about it with anyone, but the only people I actually discuss it with are various Tumblr friends and Powell.
Hippo, Johnny, Austin and all of those folks know, but I tend not to bother them with it. Hippo is super awesome about it though, helping me with characters and such.
Everyone is really understanding about it.
I mean, I'm a huge nerd, and they know I write to it's really unsurprising.
My doctor did have the 'Why, tho?" reaction because I can't really handle stress, and NaNo is a lot of stress.

"Old as balls" October 8, 2011

Day 7 - Where’s your favorite place to hunker down and write?
The kitchen!
I'm not a huge fan of Thanksgiving time foods, but they always smell amazing. There's always someone in the kitchen, and it's just a nice area of the house. It's big and open and I can get a breeze from the deck door.
Plus, when I'm behind on word count I'll put food/ drink by the side of my laptop screen on the counter, and bribe myself to write.
Horrible, I know. But it works!
