Do video games actually do anything good?
Well, they make people happy. And while I think that should be enough, there's a whole other list of good things for you nay-sayers.
Video games improve senses like eye sight and hand-eye coordination.
Video games are shown to improve brain activity and promote thinking.
Video games can be quick stress releases. (Hello! Short games can be awesome. Portal, anyone?)

And, video games have shown to be helpful in treatment of mental illnesses. (Look back to the stress-release point)
What I'm saying here is, don't knock 'em until you try 'em.
They're not the spawn of Satan, and they're not going to make your children overweight.
